Careers in Hospitality and Customer Service

Why choose Hospitality? The hospitality and tourism industry plays an important role in the global economy. As the world's leading employer, the hospitality industry affords our graduates a wide range of opportunities. The Statler curriculum prepares graduates for careers in many aspects of these industries including hotels, airlines, attractions, and tourism-promotion agencies. Employment opportunities exist in all parts of the country in a wide variety of positions with unlimited potential for advancement. To complement our hospitality curriculum, the course also teaches the fine art of customer service and contact center techniques--skills which are transferable to any industry.

Customer Service skills are a critical element in both our training programs. Thorough knowledge of the most effective customer service techniques are vital not only in the hospitality industry, but are transferrable skills to any business. This provides graduates with even more employment opportunities.

HOSPITALITY CAREER PATHS
As recently as two decades ago, competitive job opportunities for the blind and visually impaired were very limited. Advances in modern assistive technology have opened a world of possibilities never before dreamed.

The multi-trillion-dollar industry of hospitality service is expected to see its most dramatic growth periods in history. Job projections for 21st century hospitality-related careers are strong. For example, between the years 2002 and 2012, the U.S. hospitality industry is expected to need an additional 2.1 million workers. This positive forecast, along with an extraordinary potential for advancement within the field, leaves employment options wide open.

CUSTOMER SERVICE IN OTHER INDUSTRIES
Our STEC curriculum fine-tunes customer service skills for the contact (call) center field, as well as financial and medical offices, transportation, and communications businesses. Special techniques are required for these rapidly growing employment fields, and our graduates are working in each of these areas and many others. Again, customer service excellence is transferrable to other industries and not only enhance an employee’s ability to be effective with customers, but also with coworkers and business associates. Our STEC training adds a level of professionalism which sets the graduate ahead of other job candidates.
