Tanya is a wife and mom who worked for sixteen years as a postal carrier before a stroke changed everything: her movement, her memory, her vision, her whole life. No longer able to drive a mail truck or get around on her own, she felt utterly lost. Olmsted Center was able to help. Our holistic approach helped Tanya not only with her vision impairment but also with physical and emotional challenges. Olmsted’s Low Vision Rehabilitation Clinic provided counseling, mobility training and even special eye glasses and magnifiers. Tanya is not carrying letters these days, but she finally feels like her life is back on route.
Tanya has made 50 lap afghans for people at nursing homes as a way to “give back” to others because she’s grateful to have the sight she has.
