Heather & Nixie

A new start is exactly what Heather wanted, and Olmsted Center helped provide it. Heather attended one of the Statler Job Training Programs where she obtained the skills needed to excel in a new career. Heather relocated 800 miles to Buffalo, New York, to begin a new job at M&T Bank. She is their first blind telephone service representative. Olmsted’s assistive technology staff helped Heather set up her computer to ensure a truly accessible work experience. Even though Heather moved away from family and friends, she is never really alone, because Olmsted Center will continue to support her.

Moving to a new city without family and friends, (other than Nixie here) is a challenge – one Heather took on without reservations.
