Olmsted Center Announces Name and Branding Change.

Olmsted Center is very pleased to announce a name and branding change for our 101 year old organization. An examination of public perception and identity of our organization provided a consensus that while we provide quality service across many programs we are sometimes hindered by the negative perception of the words, “visually impaired”. We have learned from several sources recently that clients and potential clients often stated to staff and others “I’m not visually impaired, I just have trouble reading the paper, watching TV, etc, etc.”

As we move into our next 100 years, Olmsted Center should be known by a name that promotes the positive contribution that our organization provides to the community. Through our rehabilitation department, vision clinic, career training and placement programs, early education program, manufacturing facility and housing complexes, Olmsted Center provides ways for individuals to maximize their vision and maintain their independence in our community. For that reason, the name proposed and chosen by our staff was “Olmsted Center for Sight” with the tag line “Your Vision, Our Focus”. We feel this change provides a positive springboard to our next century of growth with a preservation of our past with memories of how much Dr. Elizabeth Olmsted brought to our organization.

Olmsted Center received a generous donation of time and professional services from Gelia Wells & Mohr to complete this name and branding change. For that, we offer them a very big thank you. To the Western New York community and those in other locations around the world who support us in our mission, we also thank you for your continued commitment to Olmsted Center for Sight.
